Mission 60 - Design & Production Notes
Iraqi National Army vs. Insurgents: Struggle in Tikrit

We designed this RoB multiplayer only map to recreate the daily battle between the Iraqi National Army and the insurgents. This struggle between the fledgling Iraqi security forces and the alliance of internal and foreign insurgents is central to Iraq's transformation from Saddam's police state to a nation governed democratically by its own people.

We chose Tikrit as this hometown of the former dictator of Iraq remains a magnet for the enemies of the new Iraq. The Baathists entrenched in Tikrit thrived while Saddam controlled Iraq and they have been deprived of their power and prestige with his fall. The Iraqi National Army is currently engaged in dislodging nests of insurgency throughout the region, and are likely to face opposition in the form of former regime loyalist and al-Qaeda for some time to come.

We modeled the map on satellite images of a small section of Tikrit. As in scenarios typically faced by the Iraqi Army in this region, the insurgents are holding positions in the town to repel military forces seeking to dissipate the opposition. The map can only be played in RoB mode, and although free for all matches are possible, we've designed specifically for two team matches where one team plays the Iraqi National Army coming in from the outside to rout the other team, who plays the insurgents in the town.

Regardless of which model players choose in the multiplayer load-out screen, they will be limited to insurgent or Iraqi National Army models. Players will still be able to choose weapons of their choice on load-out.
