Lawmakers from the House and Senate call on the Bush administration to conduct a review of the Dubai Ports deal

Senators from New York and New Jersey announce their plan to introduce legislation that will block the sale

A Senate Majority Leader from Tennessee and the House Speaker from Illinois are among lawmakers that call for the administration to cease the deal

President Bush publicly vows he will veto any legislation blocking the port deal

Dubai Port World and the White House agree to delay the ports deal in an effort to buy President Bush time to ask key members of Congress to reconsider their opposition

March:

Dubai Port World's takeover of Britain's P&O is approved by Britain's High Court, handing the company the rights to run operations at six key U.S. ports

The House Appropriations Committee votes 62-2 to block the ports deal

President Bush is told the ports deal appears dead on Capitol Hill

In a written statement, Dubai Ports World agrees to turn over all of its operations at US ports to an undisclosed US entity
