Haditha, Iraq—May 25, 2005: Fast on the heels of Operation Matador, Marines launch a city-wide cordon and search operation, where they find just what they’re looking for: hundreds of ruthless killers.

In the early morning light rising over Haditha, Marines and Iraqi soldiers stealthily infiltrate the city limits. On foot and from the air, troops covertly fill the region in preparation for a large-scale operation against insurgent forces that have taken refuge inside Haditha.
