We loved the idea of recreating this mission for several reasons. Particularly, we were interested in featuring troops in Afghanistan since so much of the current news features the happenings in Iraq.

We hadn’t featured Canadian forces up until now, so we thought this would be a great tribute to them. Not just because they’re our neighbors, but more because they came in there and totally kicked ass against the Taliban. The mission wasn’t widely publicized, so we definitely wanted to make it known.

The tough part of making this map was trying to determine precisely what the operating base looked like. Though we’ve featured Helmand Province before in Mission 64: Opium Wars, we didn’t have images of the exact location of the Afghan Army base to model. So we had to gather all our regional Intel and make a few assumptions.

This is the perfect Kuma\War mission. You’re facing an impending attack with little time and preparation to assemble and direct your troops to stave off the enemy. With highly trained troops on the ground and deadly accurate snipers up high, completing the mission weighs heavily on how well you command your troops.
