  • August 17:

    An engineer and five guards are kidnapped while repairing an oil pipeline.

  • August 29:

    Rebels fire a mortar at Iraq's oil ministry building in Baghdad.

  • August 30:

    The commander of a unit protecting Iraq's oil pipeline network is assassinated in Kirkuk.

  • Sept. 19:

    Two policemen with the pipeline protection force are killed in a bomb attack.

  • October 3:

    A bomb is launched on the motorcade of Iraq's oil minister.

  • October 5:

    Six oil ministry guards are wounded in a bomb attack.

    Five oil ministry security guards are killed by insurgents.

2006:

  • January 1:

    A bomb explodes near a gas station near Daura, injuring three civilians.
