The patrol stops to investigate an IED explosion

The patrol comes under heavy small arms fire outside the house where the IED is believed to have been detonated

A cordon and search is completed at the house and the patrol comes under intense mortar fire

Troops navigate away from hostilities and re-load their ammunition stocks

0815:

Back on the MSR, the First Cavalry spot an ambushed fuel convoy. The patrol takes a dirt path parallel to the MSR to aid the convoy, battling heavy RPG and small arms fire.

0845:

The patrol call for air and armor support, take protective positions on the MSR around the disabled convoy and fight enemies on both sides of the street

0900:

An Apache helicopter is shot down over the convoy area

1015:

The enemy is suppressed and the fuel convoy is led by the patrol back to Entry Control Point 7

1045:

The control point comes under small arms fire from a house 500 meters north. Enemies are suppressed by the 1st Cavalry patrol and additional forces.

1230:

Ross leads the patrol back to the MSR.

2000:

The First Cavalry return to base. Mission complete.
