Mission 30 - Design & Production Notes
Ramadi Convoy Exercise

The original Ramadi Convoy Exercise - Mission 28 - was designed as an exercise to train vehicle operators to be aware of the ever-present reality of roadside bombs or improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Iraq. However, once the player has gone through the mission a few times, he inevitably will become familiar with the layout of the mission and will naturally be less surprised when a bomb goes off in a particular location. The idea behind Ramadi Variations – Mission 30 -was to create a set of run-throughs that will keep a player on his toes.

There are 11 variations on the Ramadi Convoy Exercise, and each one is slightly different. We have placed IEDs in different locations, and enemies have been shuffled, subtracted, and added. We’ve also played with the "action" itself. You’ll encounter one scenario where the starting depot comes under attack. In another variation, your convoy may actually make it past the overpass in the distance.

Stay alert, and be aware that preserving the power of "the element of surprise" is our main objective in this mission.
