Mission 38 - Design & Production Notes
Operation Barras

In the operation, different British forces attacked in different places to create a diversion for the SAS' stealthy approach. In early morning hours the majority of the British forces took the fight to the rebel villages of Magbeni, Forodugu and Geri Bana. Other SAS operatives managed to quickly free the captives and extract them from the area. The success of the mission most probably relied on the excellent recon performance of SAS.

In our mission in the Single Player, the player (and his AI or human team members) must reach each of the villages on the path and neutralize any threat encountered with the final goal of freeing the hostages. To be able to carry out the mission without any or very limited casualties requires good teamwork and recon skills. In single and multiplayer, we test recon skills by giving the player snipers and forcing them to approach the armed villages. Recon confirmed that the hostages were kept in a small huts area near the last village. The distance you'll be covering is suprisingly large for the rescue operation and time is limited, since daylight was breaking.

In multiplayer, recommended tactics are to attack the enemy position from different directions at the same time with a CQB element, while the rest of the team sets up sniper positions and also covers your back for any rebel patrols or to repel any counterattack. When the first fire goes off in the village of Magbeni, the rest of the villages will probably get a definitive wakeup call and have time to prepare and set up a limited defense. Preliminary recon unit also spotted a large number of patrols, so keep your eyes open even in very remote jungle areas. To be suprised instead of giving a suprise, is the last thing we want...
