Deceiptful appearances
Al Qaeda and Iraqi insurgents have placed well hidden IEDs throughout Qaim. Any piece of debris might contain an IED on a hair-trigger. One wrong step and you're dead. Walk on open ground well away from any objects and search carefully for anomalies such as wires, artillery rounds, bags, boxes and any item that seems out of place.

Stay clear
Once you spot an IED, detonate it from a safe distance with a gunshot or a grenade. If you're too close, you'll be blown up along with the IED. If you find a bomb-making facility keep outside and clear while you fire inside to eliminate explosives.

Stay alert
Triggermen are sometimes hidden but within line of sight of an IED. IEDs are often used as a diversion to facilitate an ambush. While you look for IEDs, watch out for enemies hidden nearby

Scavenger hunt
You may run out of ammunition before completing this mission. Conserve your ammo rounds and grenades. Remember where enemies drop their weapons to pick these up later.
