Perhaps as revenge for civilian deaths, several grenades are thrown into a Fallujah base, wounding seven US soldiers.

May 27, 2003
An ambush at an army checkpoint in Fallujah leaves two US soldiers dead and nine injured.

November 2, 2003
In the deadliest attack against coalition forces since the end of major combat, a Chinook helicopter is struck outside Fallujah, killing sixteen US soldiers aboard.

January 6, 2004
Two French nationals working in Iraq are shot and killed by guerrillas after they experience car trouble in Fallujah.
